Sustainability at Conveyor Industries
At Conveyor Industries Limited (CIL), sustainability is integral to our operations as an engineering and manufacturing business. We recognise our responsibility to minimise environmental impact, support resilient local supply chains, and deliver long‑life material handling solutions that contribute to a more sustainable industrial future.
This commitment is shared across our wider Group of companies and is reflected in both our operational decisions and long‑term investments.
Our Approach
Sustainability at CIL focuses on three key areas:
Environmental Responsibility
Reducing emissions, protecting natural environments, and investing in initiatives that deliver measurable environmental benefits.

Responsible Operations and Supply Chain
Working with trusted suppliers, prioritising local expertise where possible, and designing equipment for durability, efficiency, and long service life.

Long‑Term Value for our Clients
Engineering robust conveying and bulk handling systems that reduce waste, improve efficiency, and perform reliably in demanding industrial environments.

Environmental Initiatives
Native planting and environmental protection
Across the Group, we have invested significantly in native planting and environmental restoration projects. To date, this includes:
- Approximately 35,000 native trees were planted.
- Protection of nearly 2 km of streams and wetland areas
These plantings contribute to biodiversity, erosion control, and long‑term carbon sequestration. Based on current estimates, this level of planting is equivalent to removing approximately 195 passenger vehicles from the road each year.
Responsible Design and Manufacturing
CIL specialises in the design, manufacture, and installation of heavy‑duty conveying and bulk handling systems for industries such as cement, quarrying, minerals, and processing.
Our sustainability focus in engineering includes:
- Designing equipment for long service life and low maintenance
- Selecting materials suited to harsh, high‑load environments to reduce premature replacement
- Engineering systems that improve material flow efficiency and reduce operational waste
- Providing turnkey solutions that minimise rework and lifecycle costs
Durable, well‑engineered systems are a critical part of sustainability — extending asset life and reducing the environmental cost of replacement and downtime.
Supply Chain and Local Capability
Where practical, we work with New Zealand and Australasian suppliers, supporting local industry and reducing transport‑related emissions. Our supply chain decisions consider quality, reliability, safety, and environmental impact alongside cost.
This approach also supports compliance with sustainability requirements increasingly requested by banks, government agencies, and major project stakeholders.
Continuous Improvementz
We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey.
CIL is committed to:
- Improving the accuracy and transparency of environmental reporting
- Expanding renewable energy use where feasible
- Continuing investment in environmental protection initiatives
- Aligning with evolving sustainability expectations across government, finance, and industry
As our initiatives grow, we will continue to update this page with verified data and measurable outcomes.
