Air-Supported Conveyor Upgrade for Earthquake-Rebuilt Site
As part of a major post-earthquake site redevelopment, we were engaged to design, fabricate, and oversee the installation of a fully enclosed 400 TPH air-supported belt conveyor to transfer bulk materials between new storage buildings while maintaining containment, efficiency, and reliability.

Challenges
The client needed to transfer bulk material 24 metres across a height difference between two new buildings, while maintaining product containment and minimising loss. The project also required tight integration with a new site layout after an earthquake rebuild, and long-term reliability with reduced maintenance.
Our Solution
We designed and fabricated a fully enclosed, 400 TPH air-supported belt conveyor system. The air cushion eliminated the need for walkways and idlers between pulleys, reducing moving parts and long-term maintenance. This frictionless design prevented product spillage, reduced environmental exposure, and offered a cost-effective, low-noise solution. Our team also provided onsite supervision to ensure smooth installation and seamless integration with the rebuilt site layout.
Outcome
The new conveyor enabled efficient, low-energy transfer of bulk material across the 24-metre span. Belt friction and product degradation were significantly reduced, while noise emissions and maintenance demands dropped. We delivered a high-performance intake system engineered to meet both current site demands and future scalability requirements.
